Residual stresses are particularly dangerous in plastics as they are difficult to measure and are therefore often ignored by designers. The chemical method is simple and quick test based on (ESC) caused by residual stresses in molded products where tensile residual stress significantly increase the likelihood of failure in plastics. Chemical method is one of the destructive methods for measuring residual stresses of polymers. Chemical probe require trial and error to identify a proper concentration and soaking time for visualizing the destruction.
