This study was designed for fabrication, characterization, and optimization electrospinning blending of natural biopolymers as gelatin and chitosan (G: CS) solutions. Series of pure gelatin, 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, and 20:80 ratios of blends (G: CS) were dissolved in 90 % acetic acid. Electrical conductivity, surface tension, and viscosity were used to evaluate the influence of blending polymers on solution properties. Morphological properties of bio nanofibers were study using FESEM (field emission scanning electron microscopy) technique to display the diameter, beads formation, and distribution of the nanofibers. The results showed the increase in the content of gelatin from 20% to 80% in (G: CS), caused the increasing of the viscosity and average fiber diameters with low formation beads. The nanofibers produced from blending ratio (80: 20) had a high uniformity and low beads formation. On the other hand, X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed a best crystallinity percentage, crystalline size, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with flourier transform infrared (FTIR) showed improvement the thermal properties and among interactions between the molecules of G and CS with increasing of gelatin contents in blends. Moreover, gelatin leads to increase the wettability and decreasing the water contact angle of blending nanofibers. Copyright © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
